Fanã adorava música. Tinha um grande espólio discográfico dos anos 60’ que herdara do seu pai.
A sua vida ficou verdadeiramente marcada por um álbum do Simon & Garfunkel que comprara em segunda mão.
Nas viagens de comboio entre o Fundão e Braço de Prata, cantava juntamente com a sua irmã mais velha alguns dos famosos temas, vezes sem conta. Havia dias em que eram aplaudidos e tudo. Na altura tinham como directo rival os grupinhos de escuteiros.
Nunca mais ninguém os ouviu cantar. Dizem que a irmã mais nova lhes comeu a língua!

Freddy adored music. He had a vast amount of records from the sixties he had inherited from his father.
A milestone in his life was the day when he purchased a Simon & Garfunkel album second hand.
During the trips between his home town and the city where he lived he would sing time and time again, together with his sister, some of the famous themes. Once in a while they would even get a round of applause. At the time the competition came from the groups of boy scouts.Then no one heard them sing again. Some said his sister ate his tongue!

Vida de Esquimó / An Eskimo Life

Guri e Pimpo vivem no Alasca numa ilha isolada perto de Adak.
São muito trabalhadores. Todos os dias acordam cedo para irem à pesca e caçar ursos brancos. Vão de caiaque com um pequeno farnel pois os dias são longos e por vezes não caçam nada.
Guri, que tem muito boa pontaria, aprendeu a disparar com o seu avô que morreu na boca de um bando de pinguins famintos.
No final do dia voltam para o seu Iglo onde têm muitas peles de urso branco que convidam a uma boa soneca.
Ficam juntos e muito quentinhos.

Guri and Pimpo live in Alaska, on an isolated island near Adak.They are hard working men. Every day they wake up early to go fishing and hunting white bears. They travel by kayak and take a small packed lunch for the days are long and at times they catch nothing.
Guri, who is a fine marksman, learned how to shoot with his grandfather who died at the mouth of a famished penguin pack.
At the end of the day they return to their igloo where they have plenty white bear skins just asking to be slept on. There they lie together and quite warm.

Aldeia da roupa branca / White Laundry

Renata lavadeira empenhava-se em lavar a roupa dos Lisboetas.
Não era tarefa fácil. Ainda por cima só roupa branca.
O que lhe valia por vezes era a ajuda do seu Tio Alfredo que desviava barras de sabão do arsenal do exército. O negócio ia de vento em popa.Mas o terror de qualquer lavadeira da altura acabava de chegar.
A menina Ilda, sua concorrente directa, acabava de adquirir três máquinas de lavar roupa topo de gama com bomba de água automática. Mas a Renata, esperta que nem uma rata, pegou no seu pé-de-meia e abriu uma loja de venda de máquinas de lavar roupa, com o Slogan, “Lares mais felizes com máquinas da Renata”.

Rita made it her business to wash the laundry of city folk.It was no easy task particularly because it was all linen.
Fortunately she had the help of her uncle Alfie who had ways to bring her all the soap she needed. (Better not know how.) Anyway, her business went swimmingly. But suddenly the doom of every washwoman was there. Miss Lily, her more direct competitor, had just bought three state of the art washing machines.
But Rita was no fool. She took all her money and opened a washing machine store with the slogan “Happier homes with Rita’s machines”.

A família Alves todos os anos dá um saltinho à Serra Nevada.
O Sr. Albino quer a todo o custo manter o seu interesse pela neve, para mostrar ao chefe que é um homem muito activo e radical.
Os filhos, Ricardo e Inês, gostam muito da professora de esqui. Tiveram um pouco de vergonha quando, no primeiro dia, o pai gaguejou ao dizer o seu nome, vá-se lá saber porquê.
Olga, a esposa, acompanha mas diz que o frio lhe provoca frieiras nas mãos.

The Whites take a trip to Snow Mountain every year.
Mr. Albino wants to keep his interest on snow at all costs to show his boss what an active and sporty man he is. His children, Agnes and Richard, are very fond of their ski teacher. They were a little embarrassed on the first day when their father almost failed to pronounce her name properly… who knows why?
Olga, his wife, goes along, but she claims the cold gives her hands chilblain.

Maria Armanda vive num apartamento na Amadora com o marido e os dois filhos. Deixou as limpezas para se dedicar à família.
O Zé pouco ajudava e ela já não aguentava acordar todos os dias às cinco da manhã para limpar um centro de escritórios na Quinta da Fonte.
Agora, passa os dias entre a cozinha e a tábua de engomar.

Vladimir Voronin nasceu na Moldávia e veio para Portugal há dois anos.
Deixou na sua terra natal a mulher e dois filhos. Era então considerado o melhor veterinário da região, agora está por cá a vergar o aço.
Vive na zona da Pontinha e tem um pequeno forno a lenha onde faz grandes petiscos.
Do nosso Portugal diz apenas não gostar de farinheira, mas adora o seu patrão que tem uma patroa com um forno a lenha onde também faz grandes petiscos.

Vladimir Voronin was born in Moldavia and came to Portugal two years ago. He left wife and two sons in his homeland. There he was considered the best veterinarian around. Now he is abroad bending steel.
He lives in the suburbs and has a small oven where he cooks splendid tasty dishes.
The only thing he dislikes about Portugal is a popular pork sausage made with flour.
But he loves his boss who has a wife who has a wood burning furnace where she cooks splendid tasty dishes.
